India Cupboard address
Your personal lifetime address in India to receive online orders and packages. We store them safely until you're ready to ship everything together.
Buy anything from anywhere in India — or get it from your own home, friends and loved ones — and have it delivered to your doorstep, wherever in the world you live.
NriDesiCart is a shopping and shipping service from Surat, Gujarat for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin and everyone who loves Indian products. We buy, collect, inspect, combine, pack and ship your Indian purchases internationally — with the personal, family-like care you would expect from someone at home.
Living abroad shouldn't mean living without the things you love from home — the right saree, your mother's pickle, the textbook your child needs, the brass diya for Diwali.
We are not built for the masses. NriDesiCart is run by a Surat-based team with over two decades of experience in e-commerce, online marketplaces and logistics — the same people who ship hundreds of orders every day from India's textile capital. We bring that experience to you with one promise: we treat your parcel the way we would treat a parcel for our own family abroad.
Surat is the heart of India's textile industry — sarees, dress materials, embroidered fabrics, laces and ethnic wear are made here — so we can source authentic Indian fabrics and garments directly, check quality personally and get them tailored before they travel to you.
A real person handles your request, answers on WhatsApp and checks your items like they are going to their own relatives.
Direct access to sarees, fabrics, embroidery and ethnic wear from the source, plus local tailors.
Deep experience with Indian marketplaces, packing, documentation and international logistics.

We ship from India through leading international express carriers to almost every country. The Indian diaspora we serve most often lives in:
Typically 3–7 working days door-to-door after dispatch for most destinations.
Liquids, semi-liquids and restricted items travel separately and usually take 10–20 days.
International shipping is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher — that's why we repack smartly.
Every international parcel goes through customs clearance in the receiving country. Knowing the rules helps you avoid overpaying import duties when your package arrives.
A de minimis value is the maximum shipment value below which a country does not collect import duty and/or tax. Goods valued below that limit can enter duty-free with minimal clearance formalities. Each country sets its own limit, and the limit for duty is often different from the limit for VAT or GST.
Duties, import taxes and VAT are calculated as a percentage of the customs value of the shipment, which usually includes the price of the goods, the cost of freight and insurance. These charges are billed directly to you by the delivering carrier, sometimes with a brokerage or clearance fee.
Disclaimer: Customs rules and thresholds are set by each country's authorities and change frequently. The information here is a general guide only; please confirm with your local customs office or carrier before importing. NriDesiCart is not liable for decisions made based on this information.

A seller invoice or payment receipt shows the price of each item. It is needed for tax compliance, correct product classification (HSN code), customs declaration and warehouse insurance. Many sellers include an invoice in the package or email it to you — please keep these records. If a package arrives with only a gift receipt, we'll ask you for additional details before export.
We do not ship second-hand goods bought for resale. However, if the items are your own personal belongings left behind in India, we can ship them as "personal effects" — you will only need to complete a declaration.
Yes, with care. Unbranded homemade food like pickles, chutneys, sweets and snacks that has no expiry, ingredient or manufacturing label is repacked and relabelled to international standards in sealed covers. We wear gloves and maintain a clean environment during repacking. Perishable items are at your own risk and must comply with your country's import laws. The compliance review usually takes under 24 hours and at most 72 hours.
We export branded, non-perishable food. We cannot export food that needs refrigeration, is labelled in a foreign language, or is restricted for export by Indian food authorities. Please also check with your local customs office, as many countries restrict food imports.
Purchases routed through us are shipped as commercial (B2C) shipments, and B2C customs rules apply. If the parcel is genuinely a gift from your family or loved ones and we are only facilitating it, we can declare it as a gift.
If you've ordered something that cannot be exported from India and can't return it to the seller, you can choose to donate it, or we can courier it to any address within India.
No. Perfumes and agarbatti/incense are on the flammable items list and cannot be shipped.
Yes, as long as they are not restricted in your country or prohibited. They need special handling, are shipped separately from other items, and may take 10–20 days to reach you.
Prohibited goods cannot be exported at all — for example explosives, cash, bullion, ivory, ammunition and illegal goods. Restricted goods can be shipped with certain documents — for example antiques and works of art, stamps, toy guns, perishables and biological samples.
Items that need special handling, packaging and labelling — such as flammable or pressurised items like hairspray, spray paint, lighters, nail polish and perfume. Whether they can travel depends on your country and the carrier's licence. Where allowed, they ship separately and may take 10–20 days.
Brand-new phones can be shipped if the battery is under 100 Wh, subject to value limits and an electronics handling process (batteries are drained before shipping). Email us the exact model link, battery type and quantity and we'll confirm.
Yes, with a purchase invoice clearly showing the seller details, item description and amount. Customs may sometimes ask for an appraiser certificate.
No. We cannot ship any precious metals or stones. Any attempt to ship them results in the whole shipment being discarded.
We cannot export counterfeit, bootleg or knock-off items. If an item doesn't appear authentic, we will notify you and help you return it to the seller where possible; otherwise it must be discarded.
Express shipments usually reach you within 3–7 working days after dispatch, depending on your location. Special-handling shipments may take 10–20 days.
Air shipping cost depends on how much space a box takes, not just how heavy it is. The chargeable weight is the greater of the actual gross weight and the volumetric weight (length × width × height ÷ 5000, in cm, for most express carriers). For multiple boxes, each is calculated separately and added up. This is why we remove unnecessary packaging before shipping.
Most countries charge import duty and/or tax on arrival, depending on their laws. Some allow low-value goods to enter duty-free up to a de minimis limit — but these limits are being reduced or removed in many countries, including the USA and the EU. Duties tend to be higher for the UK, EU countries, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
No. Our charges cover Indian taxes. Import duty, VAT or customs charges of your country are collected by the delivering carrier at delivery, sometimes with a brokerage or storage fee. Please check with your local customs office for details.
If the duties seem too high, you can: (1) refuse the package and raise a dispute with the carrier, producing your purchase receipts to challenge the assessed value — the decision rests with the customs officer; (2) ask for the shipment to return to your Cupboard in India, in which case return shipping, Indian import duties and related fees apply; or (3) abandon the package, which customs or the carrier will then donate or dispose of.
We check eligibility before shipping, but rules change often. If entry is refused you can have it returned to your Cupboard (return and related charges apply) or abandon it. In these situations it is the consignee's responsibility, and shipping/service charges are not refundable. We strongly recommend checking what your country allows — and we're always happy to help on WhatsApp.
All shipments carry the carrier's limited liability cover. Additional insurance can be purchased at the time of shipping and covers loss, theft or damage to the items. It does not cover import duties and taxes, domestic shipping costs or damage to the outer box.
Once you request a pickup, we arrange it through trusted third-party domestic couriers, usually within 24–60 hours (longer for remote towns and villages). After pickup it typically takes a few days in transit to reach our Surat processing centre.
Yes. Please do basic packing so the box reaches us safely. Fragile items must be bubble-wrapped and the box clearly marked FRAGILE. The pickup person only collects the sealed box. Once it reaches us, we open it, inspect the items, share the results with you and, after your approval, repack to international standards and prepare customs paperwork.
Pickups happen Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm India time.
In special cases — elderly parents, illness or no access to a printer — we can request the courier to bring a printed label. This depends on the courier partner agreeing on the day of pickup.
Every package is opened, security-checked and eligibility-checked; you get the inspection results, and after your approval we repack to international standards and complete the customs paperwork. This can only be done at our processing centre.
The domestic courier's limited liability cover applies if the package is lost, stolen or damaged with a tampered outer box. If the outer packing is intact but contents are damaged, couriers usually don't refund — so careful packing matters. We will always help you follow up and claim from the courier company.
Our website and customer panel are being built. Until then, every request — shopping, pickup, tailoring, shipping or gifts to family — is handled personally by our team.
